This requires iPod software version more recent than 4.2.1 to install, so despite the claims here, this is NOT compatible with iPod Touch second generation. Hopefully they will rectify this soon.
Once again Playdeck nails it. Not only did they do a fantastic job of creating the card game in digital format. But they included all their normal play modes and just gave the app some life. Seeing how well Playdeck translated this game makes it all the more depressing with what happened with Dominion.
One of the best game of Playdek since Ascension...2 thumbs up+++++
Playdek + PA = Perfect Team. Truely a masterpiece deck building game.
This game is awesome. Highly addicting right off the bat. This company seems to have perfected async play (also a Fluxx owner).
Deck building games often seem like theyre fairly difficult to learn. With currency systems and powers at play it can all be a bit overwhelming. However thats simply not the case with this game, one tutorial round and youll definitely understand all the mechanics at play. The game is quick and rounds last about 20 minutes or so. I wouldnt say this game has the most depth Ive ever seen, but Im still feeling it out. Either way, if you like card games or the PA license, this is worth a look.
I buy lots of card games, and end up playing next to none of them. Magic has been the main game for me, and I think that was due to the fact that Ive been playing it since the 90s when I was younger and apparently able to learn things. However with that said, this game has, along win Fluxx, changed my entire opinion on card games in general. Theyve made some games here that are simply amazing. This game was fairly easy to learn (although I wish there was a way to actively track your VP, if there is I havent figured it out) and has been a blast to play. No, its not deep. No there are no expansions. But with all those issues, even with it getting a slight bit repetitive after a fair many games, its STILL incredibly fun and an easy game to get into. One of the most accessible card games to ever hit the App Store for sure! But dont expect this to fill the screen of the iPhone 5 or current iPod touch, thats my biggest issue, and for that to be my biggest issue, ill live with it :)
When I saw the advertisement in the penny arcade box for the iOS app almost a year ago, I was excited. This was worth the wait! Developers managed to mimic the board game perfectly. Really nice to see this working, and on both iPhone and iPad. Great game! Review edit: After playing dozens of matches, the game is still fun. One thing I want to see is the expansion added, even if it is a few more bucks, the extra cards would keep the game fresh. iPhone 5 support would be nice, but not a big deal compared to the expansion.
Really great game. If you like deck building games like Dominion, youll like this. The fact that its a Penny Arcade game is just icing on the cake.
Great adaptation of the hard copy game and easily the best multiplayer game on iOS. This is a must buy.
I am having a lot of fun playing this with the exception that the AI knows exactly what the score for every player is. I have not played a game where the player who ended the game didnt win. If I ended the game I clearly had the most points as the AI wasnt willing to end the game. It takes a little of the suspense of who is winning out of the game. I would still recommend it to any PA fans or deck building fans, especially if you have people online to play with.
Great implementation , Great multiplayer. A lot of fun. I cant stop playing.
If youve played PlayDecks "Ascension" (and you should) then youve played Penny Arcade. Theres nothing wrong with that, its a very solid, balanced, tested game mechanic. Just the funny cards make this one a hoot. Good game at $2.99. Auto-buy at $.99.
I enjoyed this game when I purchased the board game version. This plays very similarly and is a great deck building game with the fun of penny arcade. My only issue so far, and the reason for not giving full stars, is that your final score is incorrectly tallied.
The interface is crisp and alive, the gameplay is addictive and fun, and I am indeed glad to have found this well-crafted, multi-faceted game of sheer sweet meatery. I highly recommend this if you enjoy games from the upper echelon of quality.
This is the best Playdek card game on the iPad. Absolutely no equal. A very well thought out game system, highly strategic. The game has an incredibly high replay value. I hope to see the sequel someday.....
Very addictive
Ascension players will understand the mechanics of Penny Arcade but thats where the similarities end. Very different gameplay, strategies, theme, & cards which makes it a lot of fun. Lots of polish like other Playdek games.
After hearing good things, I gave this a try, and I was left underwhelmed given other deck building games. Gameplay is uninteresting as the cards really dont play off each other, so the player is left with uninteresting choices. I found myself just hitting the "play all" button and grabbing power cards. Not very fun. If youre looking for a deck building game, go with Ascension or Nightfall. I suspect that its only the PA brand that is carrying this app, not the gameplay.
